OK. I recently got a copy of Team Fortress 2 on the PC via steam as its now free to play! I’ve been learning about all the classes in the game and so far I’ve gone through the first two being the Soldier and Demoman. Next is the Spy! Bring it on!
OK my first multiplayer match in Team Fortress 2 and I absolutely suck as this game! I don’t play a lot of first person shooters to begin with but the least I can say is that I have a long way to go :). I really enjoy making gameplay videos and posting them on the internet. I am a fan of all games and love finding new stuff to sink my teeth into. TF2 is quite different to a lot of other shooters out there but is quite fun nonetheless. I can see myself really getting into this game and playing a lot more multiplayer online.
Team Fortress 2 has recently been made free to play on steam so why not get a copy of it and start playing! My first play of TF2 so I looked at the Demoman class to play with.
My second video part 2 of the Soldier training in Team Fortress 2 on PC.
Team Fortress 2 has recently been made free to play on steam so why not get a copy of it and start playing! My first play of TF2 so I looked at the Soldier class to start playing with as I’ve never really played this game before. Of course I have heard of it before, but never played it in my life. It looks like a really fun game though! Talk about coming late to the party!
OK, I know a lot of people who still love playing Diablo 2 (my girlfriend included). She actually re-installed this the other day and she asked me “How come I can’t get rid of the black bars on the sides of the screen?”. The answer to this question is because Diablo 2 only supports a maximum screen resolution of 800×600. I showed her how to stretch the game across the whole screen but wouldn’t it be great to be able to play Diablo 2 at higher screen resolutions? Well, now you can.
I came across a really great article at N.E.E.T. Gamer which explains how it all works. You basically install some software which runs from the Diablo 2 game directory modifying the game to run in higher resolutions. The reason why something like this is able to work is because the graphics engine Diablo 2 uses is able to scale graphics accordingly based on your screen resolution (it can already do this between 640×480 and 800×600 anyway) unlike previous Blizzard games before it (StarCraft 1, WarCraft 2, etc) that used sprites of fixed size which could not be scaled or re sized without stretching and warping the image badly.

OK, 5th video in this Learning from Bronze “series” documenting my struggles through the bronze league in StarCraft 2. Apologies for the poor sound quality in this video, it’s still ok but was experimenting with a few different options. I’ll go back to my regular 128bps MP3 encoding for next time.
Was a bit better this game with my scouting which is nice to see I’m learning! I’m usually not too bad against Protoss opponents but I usually get killed pretty quickly when they go Dark Templar. I’m usually focusing pretty hard on getting my army size up and my macro that I completely forget about the possibility of early stealth units from the Protoss.
At least this game I was able to scout somewhat to realize he would probably be going down this road so was able to get up a few missile turrets to detect cloaked units at my base. As I didn’t have any mobile detector unit with me in my army push I remembered to keep a few scanner sweeps handy in case I ran into cloaked resistance. It was lucky I did because my opponent most definitely did go with Dark Templar and I was able to render them pretty much useless and took him out quite decisively.
Portal 2 has been out for over a month now and when I first took a look at it on launch it didn’t really interest me all that much. I never played the original game (sigh!) so I didn’t really know what I was missing out on, but now starting to play Portal 2 I have just one word for it, awesome! I’ve only just started playing it, I completed the first chapter last night and already I can’t wait to see what else this game has to offer.
Stephen Merchant as “Wheatley” is great, such a funny character. I’ve included the Portal 2 trailer above which as some footage of this great character. This game is built on the aging source engine that powered Half Life 2 but surprisingly the game plays very well. It isn’t the most impressive looking game I’ve seen recently but the art style of the game really works well and visually looks very good.
I’ve been having fun with it so far, if you’re looking around for a new game to play definitely don’t go past this one. I disregarded it for a whole month after it launched but glad I gave it a try, I’m totally hooked on it right now!
I cannot wait for this second chapter of StarCraft 2. I really like the story so far, played right through the first game and really looking forward to what happens next with Kerrigan! No release date yet announced but probably looking like early next year at this point. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for an early (Christmas 2011) release!!
My struggles through the bronze league in StarCraft 2. I like to recap my games to see where I’m going wrong and maybe what I’m doing right. Its a good way to learn by reviewing your own games. Ok I win this game which is great but what do I do wrong that I can improve on? Well, lots of things:
- Scout more often
- Spend my minerals on ANYTHING rather than letting them pile up!
