New Years Pyro Mizzet

Reviving the NerdyLoft YouTube channel in 2020, hoping to put out more videos on a regular basis. Starting off with at least 1 per week and see where it goes. Would be awesome to spend more time on the channel and post a few videos a week. With a full-time job it will be difficult, but really want to commit to it in 2020. Starting off with some budget pyro mizzet on restricted standard event in MTG arena. Follow NerdyLoft on Mixer – Check out the website (being revamped) –

New YouTube Channel Trailer!

Hi All, to get a better idea of the content to expect on my YouTube channel I’ve put together a new trailer which showcases some of my content. While I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to post new videos on a regular basis, I am trying to set some time aside a few times each month to produce new videos and hopefully grow from there.

Thanks to all of my existing subscribers on the channel for your comments and support and hope to speak to more of you again soon!

I Am Legend Re-Watch – Multiple Endings

iamlegendI Am Legend is an interesting film (reminds me a lot of the game ‘The last of us’), and follows the main character Robert Neville (Will Smith) a survivor in New York City after a virus outbreak with symptoms similar to ‘vampirism’. Much of the story is devoted to Neville’s struggles to understand the plague that has infected everyone around him, and the film details the progress of his discoveries.

I originally saw this film back in 2007 when it released but recently watched it again on Netflix and felt that the ending is a bit of a disappointment. ***Spoiler*** He blows himself up to allow Anna/Ethan to escape his house with the “cure” to the disease. It would have been great to see Robert go with Anna/Ethan to the colony and see how the cure is utilized. This is “almost” explored in the alternate ending to the film but unfortunately this falls short also but the alternate ending is most definitely superior to the the original.

Searching around on YouTube I was able to find the alternate ending where Neville doesn’t sacrifice himself. Whilst they hide in his lab the infected raid it and the alpha male makes the shape of a butterfly on the lab glass. Neville realises that he is referring to the female Neville has captured (with her butterfly tattoo) he takes her out to the alpha male and takes the cure out of the females veins. They then show signs of love and compassion for one another, leaving Neville realising that, infact, the infected are not mindless killing machines but have developed a community of their own and have still got traces of their humanity. The film ends with Neville, Anna and Ethan driving off to find the colony with Anna recording a message over the radio for other survivors.

I think is pretty cool the film has multiple endings but would have a great if this alternate ending was actually part of the original film. There has been some discussion online about rumors of a sequel, let’s hope if we do see a second film it explores the survivor colony’s a bit more and how Neville’s cure was used.

Overall a great film.

This is awesome. Can’t wait to get to a high enough level to start crafting legendary weapons!

So after months and months of daily routines for Karma, Skill Points and that wait for the pesky map completion I have finally finished crafting my Legendary axe Frostfang! Simple and yet so fancy, I love how its breathing ice +_+ This tops off my “Dragon Slayer” look for my warrior.

But crafting this did not come cheap…but it was all worth it!
Still watching all my mats simply vanish into thin air was very heart wrenching…

I couldn’t have finished this without the help of my awesome guildies. Dom,Verdict and Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon! Thank you so much 😀

This should keep me satisfied for a long time :3 I still hope Arenanet improves and polish all their current Legendary weapons before adding anymore.

My Concerns about the Tomb Raider Reboot

Some really interesting points made here, I too share a concern for the new Tomb Raider game coming out soon. I understand it will be a re-imagining of the original series so some changes will be there, but if too much of the Lara Croft we all know is lost, it will be difficult to connect to this title.

Check out the original post above, if you have any opinion on the new Tomb Raider game please do leave a comment!

The Whiteboard

I was one of the biggest supporters of the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot when it was announced. Heck, way back to the leak about it a year or so before it was announced, I was excited for this game. The more they showed though, the more questions I had about the direction of this new entry in one of my favorite series. My biggest worry is that the core of the franchise is being lost in here somewhere.

All the articles leading up to the official unveil had me believing that this would in fact retain what was important to the series while expanding it in an interesting new direction. I have enjoyed all of Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider games to varying degrees (and the excellent spinoff Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light as well). But after three fairly similar entries, I think it was time for a change…

Jetpack Joyride

I absolutely love the game Jetpack Joyride. It’s currently available on iOS and Android. From the makers of Fruit Ninja how can you go wrong? It’s best played on a tablet but works perfectly find on the go on a phone. It has a 16-bit retro feel to the game and has great depth, some cool unlockables and power-ups also. What’s not to love about that!

Go check out the blog ‘Forever Indoors’ also, they’ve put up some great stuff.

Retro Gaming: NBA Jam (Sega Mega Drive)

BOOM SHAKALAKA!!!! Those two words (if they can even be called words) were ingrained into my brain as a 9 year old. I’d walk past an NBA Jam arcade machine and hear the awesome music and kids screaming with laughter when they were ‘heating up’. Well folks luckily for us back in 1993 the guys at Midway gave us a great port of the arcade classic NBA Jam to the Sega Mega Drive and later the Super Nintendo.

For 2 on 2 Basketball it doesn’t get much better than this game, scoring three times in a row will put your player on fire, turning the basketball into a flaming implement of can’t miss 3 pointers! The series is well known for its gravity defying dunks and no rules basketball antics. The voice commentary in this game was somewhat revolutionary in its day also, no other basketball game at the time was able to capture the excitement of televised basketball in a video game before.

The soundtrack is excellent and the game includes all 27 NBA Teams (from back in 1993). Being a fully licensed game by the NBA was a major deal as you could play from a selection of great NBA players like Scottie Pippen, Dominique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, the list goes on. Unfortunately Michael Jordan does not make an appearance in this game, but around the time not too many Basketball games were lucky enough to obtain the Jordan license anyway.

From a time when we had many many Basketball video games to choose from, most pretty good ones also NBA Jam stands above them all as a diamond in a sea of slightly less polished by otherwise fairly shiny diamonds!

Internet 2010 in numbers (via technoliterati)

OK, If you don’t have an interest in the internet then this article is not for you, but if you’re keen on getting an idea of how many apache servers there are in use out there or how many dot coms were registered last year have a read of this. Its quite interesting and gives you a great appreciation of how large the internet really is (and how many people actually use it).
