Anyone Seen The 12 Apostles? Amazing!

Yep, I went to visit the 12 Apostles yesterday, taken a nice drive down the great ocean road. For those of you who have no clue what i’m talking about, the 12 Apostles are an amazing natural occurrence of limestone rock from the coastline that has eroded away over millions of years to leave behind 12 (well make that 11 now) 150ft high “apostles” in the sea.

I took some video which I posted to my YouTube channel of the time at the viewing areas overlooking the apostles. They were pretty amazing. Have seen them heaps on TV and in print, but never so close and in person. Well worth the drive to check this out!

Amazing stuff!

So Busy With Everything – Back to Blogging

Well It’s been almost 2 months since my last post and for that I really do apologise, I’ve been really busy with heaps of stuff over the last few months. Mainly getting my last exams over with for uni (yes after this week I’m done forever) and work has been quite busy too.

I’m looking forward to putting heaps more stuff up on here soon and getting back to writing on a daily basis.

Thanks guys for your patience.

Justin

My Apologies

I haven’t been a very good blogger the past week or two. I haven’t made regular posts because I’ve been so busy, and really that’s not much of an excuse considering how long it actually takes to write a post.

I really hope to be able to put some more of my time aside and really start putting more and more content on here. After all it’s been my creative outlet for the past 6 years and I wouldn’t want to let that go just yet would I.

I still really enjoy writing and hope to be able to do more and more of it in the coming weeks, I just have to get through this rough part in my life with uni study and work (the combination is killing me at the moment) but once I get through this storm, I just know I’ll have a lot more time to spend on the things I enjoy most.

Until then, I hope you all had a great Easter, and look forward to writing on here again very soon (maybe even tomorrow).

Thanks
Justin

Earth Hour A Huge Success!

Billions of people right around the world took part in one of the biggest support efforts for our planet last night. It was called “Earth Hour” and the idea behind it was for everybody around the world to turn off their lights for 60 minutes (1 hr) from between 8:30pm – 9:30pm to save energy and raise awareness for our environment’s sustainability.

More than 370 cities around the world observed Earth Hour and as you can see from some of the photos below, it looks like a difference quite possibly had been made:

I personally took part in Earth Hour this year myself. I turned out all the lights in the house. I didn’t watch any TV for that hour, but I did listen to music on my iPod (batteries) and used my laptop computer on battery power also. A small difference, but that was the idea behind Earth Hour. If everybody made a small contribution just like that, then each would add up to something quite big.

I saw a few houses in my street do the same thing, but most perhaps didn’t even know it was happening!

Next year we’ll have to aim for more people to join in…after all, it’s only the future of the planet at stake! Every small bit counts.

Youtube Is Full Of “Read The Hardware Specs” Videos

There are so many videos people create on Youtube and the likes of just basically reading hardware specifications straight off the spec-sheet for a product.

Whether you’re reviewing a laptop, new music player, mobile phone, HDTV, etc all people seem to do is just read off a list of specs, say what the product is and if they personally like it or not. Most of the time the person doing the video sounds like they don’t even know the product they’re trying to review. When they read the spec-sheet they don’t even know what half of the stuff they’re reading is!

I’ve seen countless videos where the reviewer would be like:

“This <insert product name here> has a:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
  • Some RAM….1,2GB i think
  • Super fast video card GoForce (GeForce) 8800 something….

Number one, its not very professional and two, you look like a dumb ass when you’re reading something you know NOTHING about!

In the interests of keeping the subjects of my rants anonymous I won’t post their STUPID videos here, but I’ve left comments on their videos….you know who you are!

10 80’s Cartoons We Couldn’t Live Without

Remember the television shows we all used to watch growing up in the 80’s? Get ready to take a step back into the past to revisit some of those great shows that we just couldn’t live without. In no particular order:

10 – Inspector Gadget

Who didn’t love inspector gadget? When I was a kid I wanted his hat that had a helicopter in it that was awesome!

9 – Transformers

I had the toys and watch the cartoons religiously when I was about 5 or so. Watching Optimus Prime save the day, day in day out never got old!

8 – Ghostbusters Animated Series

Ghostbusters! na-na-na-na-na….nanananana!!

7 – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

No anchovies dudes!

6 – Voltron

I remember the gang, Lance, Pidge, Captain Keith, Sven…i loved Sven, maybe because he was funny to me at the time. He was a Norwegian fighter pilot who piloted the blue Lion…who doesn’t love a show with lots of mech type machines…bit of a rip of Transformers, but we loved it all the same!

5 – Banana man

Go Bananaman, save us from the horrible apple man. I tell you what, this show was awesome when I was 3 or 4 but looking at it now has made me realize how crap it really was. I could come up with a better show after 20 beers! (Table cloth vs kitchen sink!…its a hit!)

4 – Captain Planet (early 90’s but it was awesome wasn’t it!)

Captain Planet. He’s a hero. Gonna take pollution down to zero! At least the show had some educational value. 20 years later, who would have thought all that info we got on the environment would hold up so well!

3 – The Jetsons

This show taught me so much at such a young age. It was the first place I learned the number 1 fact of life. You work for your money, then you get home and it’s your wife’s to keep!

2- M.A.S.K

M.A.S.K! Another one of those “I want to be like Transformers” shows. But I liked it, with the flying cards and helicopter bikes, it was great. Another show based on an 80’s comic book.

1 – The Simpsons

The Simpsons…everyone know the Simpsons. Starting in 1989 this show was absolutely responsible for moulding the 20 something’s of today’s society into what they are today. Most people found their sense of humour through the Simpsons and so many jokes in the show made their way into popular culture. As the show continues to this day (some episodes more questionable than others) all in all perhaps the best animated series of all time!

Why Do Men Like Boobs So Much?

gemmaatkinson616

What a question! It’s right up there with, “What is the meaning of life?” and “why does this shoe fit better than the other one?”. Why do men like boobs so much? I think it all comes down to basic instinct and human evolution.

Basic Instinct:
Many men were breastfed when they were babies, and perhaps it is a subliminal reminder of those cushy days. Although we don’t remember feeding on breasts, there may be something in our minds that is triggered when we see or feel them that gives us good feelings. Feelings of being nurtured or cared for that is soothing. Or, maybe it’s just because we don’t have them ourselves and we just want what we don’t have?

Evolution:
Maybe its a genetic evolutionary thing? There have been studies to show that women with bigger breasts produce healthier babies and maybe something along those lines are wired into our brains? Men obviously want a woman that will give him healthy offspring and this notion extends not only to human beings, but most animal species on the planet.

Or simply, we all know men like to play with toys, especially when they’re big and soft and we all know we like to sleep? Maybe they remind us of a soft pillow to sleep on? Maybe we just like em because THEY’RE BOOBS!

Top Gear Live Trip: Sydney – Day 1

06022009126Well I’ve arrived at the Swissotel hotel this morning in Sydney as I’m here this weekend to see the Top Gear Live show at Acer Arena as I mentioned in “Top Gear Live Sydney – February 7th 2009”

So last time I was in Sydney I stayed at the Four Seasons which is really nice, better than the Swissotel but where I am this weekend is still good. Here’s some pictures of my room:

Its nice with some nice views and internet access is fast and we all love that don’t we!

me_workingSo today on the agenda I think we’ll just take it easy for a while this morning, and we’ll go take a look around Sydney later this afternoon. Aubree (my girlfriend for the uninitiated) has never been to Sydney before so it will be a good chance to do some touristy stuff like check out the Opera House, take a ride on the monorail, check out Darling Harbor and the Harbor bridge and I really want to show her Circular Quay and maybe the top of Centerpoint Tower. Tomorrow afternoon I’ll definitely be going on the harbor cruise. I went on that on my first visit to Sydney and it’s a great way to get familiar with the city.

Obviously, If I take any photos you’ll be the first to see them here!

The Top Gear Live show isn’t until tomorrow (Saturday) morning so I’ll let you know how that all goes in a post tomorrow along with many many photos of course 🙂

Thanks guys, I’ll check back in soon!

Top Gear Live Sydney – February 7th 2009

tglWell guys I’ve got my tickets, my bag is packed and I’m ready for a flight out to Sydney at 6am this morning (so if you’re reading this right now no doubt I’ll either be on the plane or already there) to go check out the Top Gear Live show on Saturday at Sydney’s Acer Arena.

From reading reviews and synopsises on the show’s tour so far (they just finished up in South Africa I believe) it sounds like one hell of a show. Ferrari’s and Lambo’s doing burnouts to open up the show, some stiggy boy action around the place and to top it off with some VW golf soccer it should be great.

When I get back I’ll be sure to post all my thoughts, photos and video of the trip here on my blog for you all to take a look at.

It should be a fun weekend, I’ll tell you all about it on Monday so be sure to check back in then!
